The increase in the consumption of ready-to-eat foods has also increased generation agro-industrial waste. organic matter present these residues causes damage to environment when they are improperly disposed of. Composting is a technology that uses obtain sustainable material can be used as biofertilizer, without harming environment. objective was collect and analyze data related composting capable transforming waste into fertilizer. For this, keywords were defined survey information SciELO database carried out. keyword [composting AND (“agro-industrial waste” OR “agro-industrial waste”)], English, obtained best representation refinement. Annual evolution observed between 2007 2020, with number publications fluctuating over period. Considering 13 selected scientific articles, total 4 countries highlighted headquarters research executing institutions, namely: Brazil, Chile, Mexico Portugal. thematic area “Agrarian Sciences” journal “Engenharia Agrícola” have largest their respective groups.
